A Mexican Artist

Alejandro Aguirre Hernandez is an artist and musician in Tepoztlan, Mexico. I've known Alejandro since we played music in a quartet called Migrant Worker, in December 2015.

Alejandro opened a gallery to show his work. The grand opening party, with ribbon cutting, champagne and all, was on May 30, 2019.

Below is are photos to show a few of the other businesses on the block. It's an area that is expanding to carry the overflow of tourists from the main part of town that's a few blocks up the hill.

Alejandro works in acrylic, oil, and mixed media. Some of his works are collage. He even produces jewelry. Most of his works are on standard canvas. He has some smaller sized works painted on wood.

Alejandro's themes and styles encompass a broad perspective. From natives, to musicians, landscapes, animals, and shamans, he transmits the qualities of life from his own experiences. He uses both realism and abstraction to express himself.

From the paintings shown above, you can see how Alejandro draws from his life experiences, expressing himself on themes most dear to him. His use of many styles of expression amazes me!

Let's continue to explore Alejandro's work by viewing more of his gallery collection and speaking with him in the videos below.
